"THE DOG PATCH"
In a vote of 5 to 1, the 2 acre dog park and it's funding at the new location of Fed Hwy and NE 10th street was approved.
The dog park will be fee free and there will be no membership or admission charge.
It is a shame that it took so long for the City of Pompano Beach to recognize that a dog park in our city is part of the county wide movement toward responsible urban animal management. But as they say....better late than never!

We are committed to enriching the quality of life in Pompano through responsible pet care, awareness and the establishment and maintenance of recreational areas where dogs and people can interact in a clean, safe and pleasant environment. A Message from: Dog Pack of Pompano Beach!
Did you know there is a Pompano Beach city ordinance that bans dogs from all city parks, unless otherwise noted? This includes dogs walked on leashes too! Of 49 parks in our city dogs are allowed in 1, and then only on leash.
This is why the Dog Pack of Pompano Beach has worked tirelessly to see that the City responded to this situation by creating the first off leash dog park in the City of Pompano Beach.
90.06 ANIMALS PROHIBITED IN CERTAIN PLACES.
(A) No person owning or having charge, care, custody, or control of any animal shall cause, permit, or allow the animal into or on any public park or beach, the area commonly known as the beach parking lot, the east side of Pompano Beach Boulevard, the parking lot at the foot of Atlantic Boulevard, all public beach access areas and their designated rights-of-way, the park area of the Alsdorf Boat Launching Park, or any city maintained area that is posted as prohibited to animals. However, this provision shall not apply to park areas in which animals are specifically authorized as posted. Non compliance with the above shall be deemed a violation of this section.
