The City of Pompano Beach has opened it's first dog park called Canine Corner.
1101 North Federal Highway

There was great support at the ribbon cutting which included over 100 residents of Pompano Beach ,Mayor Lamar Fisher, Vice Mayor George Brummer and Commissioners Charlotte Burrie, Rex Hardin and Barry Dockswell.

The City of Pompano Beach Parks and Recreation Department in cooperation with the Dog Pack of Pompano Beach Inc. presents:

DOG PARK ETIQUETTE CLASS!

Join us for a free 90 minute discussion & powerpoint presetation of DOG PARK ETIQUETTE and tips to help you and your dog get the most out of our new dog park! It's fun and it's free.

Topics to include:

Review of the Rules for using the dog park.
What you can do to insure that your visit to the dog park will be a successful one.
Appropriate dog park behavior.
Dog body language and silent communication.
How to tell if your dog is a social butterfly or a social outcast.
What a good meeting between dogs looks like.
Signs of trouble that might lead to a dog fight.
What to do if a fight occurs.
How to tell if your dog is overheating and what to do.
Signs of deadly Canine Bloat and how to avoid it.
First aid items to keep in your car to help your dog.
What to do if you find conflict at the park.

The First Monday of every month

Except for the month of Sept.class will be on the 13th instead of the 6th. Due to the holiday.

Time: 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Location: Emma Lou Olson Civic Center, 1801 NE 6 Street

This class is for human companions only!
You can tell your dog all about it when you get home!

Engraved bricks for our dog park!

Headed up by Brian Doyle, our President.
Some of you may not know this, but the dog park is not finished. Our goal is to be able to fence in the area C and D. Our engraved brick program will reduce the cost to the city for development of areas C and D. We are hoping to sell enough bricks to fully fund the construction of area C and D as well as other amenities of the dog park.
Is there a better gift, than a brick with your dog's name on it??

Developing area C and D is an important feature of keeping our park successful because these additional fenced areas will be used to rest the turf of the large dog park and they would also be places to have supplemental events.
Your engraved brick can honor a loved one or a beloved pet, commemorate, a birthday,an anniversary, make a statement with a quote... etc. It will be a part of the dog park forever! Talk about a gift that stands the test of time!
